EXERCISE COLD START
Context
In October 2025, India will conduct Exercise Cold Start in Madhya Pradesh, its largest-ever tri-service drone and counter-drone drill since Operation Sindoor. The exercise aims to test the country’s preparedness against evolving aerial threats and strengthen inter-service cooperation in modern warfare.
About Exercise Cold Start
What It Is:
- A tri-service military exercise focused on the use of drones, UAVs, and counter-drone technologies.
- Simulates aerial threats and defence responses in a future-oriented battlefield environment.
- Scheduled for the first week of October 2025, hosted in Madhya Pradesh.
Organisations Involved:
- Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force (joint participation).
- Collaboration with industry partners, research & development agencies, and academic institutions for technology inputs.
Key Features
- Live operational drills with drones and counter-drone systems.
- Integration of GPS jamming, surveillance technologies, and electronic warfare systems.
- Inspired by the Sudarshan Chakra concept, designed for integrated defence against drones, UAVs, hypersonic missiles, and other aerial threats.
Testing of indigenous defence technologies, developed jointly with industry and academia.
